It's Okay to not be Okay

There are many things in life that can affect us and how we develop as a person. People may play a part in this, with relationships we make or have made and the relationships we leave behind. Sometimes we out grow people or relationships are toxic, moving on is important for you and your mental health. I have first hand experience in cutting toxic people out of my life. 

Having people that are toxic in your life isn't good for your mental health. As close as they may be to you, they also should support you, a relationship is a two way street. Making it always about them, their problems or making you feel guilty, isn't fair. I've dealt with toxic people before and in the end, enough was enough. They always make it seem that they are dealing with things that are far worse than yours. It's like your in constant competition and this can have a major affect on your mental health. You are important, you also have things going on in your life, you matter just as much as they do. You have a right to be okay too or to deal with things at your own pace. Life is not a competition. 



I've had times where I've needed to be selfish and take time for myself. I felt like I had been  putting everyone before myself and it was affecting my mental health. I needed to take five, I needed to focus on myself and take time to sort myself out. And that's okay. Its fine to not be okay. It's fine to recognise that actually I'm not in a good place, I need time to sort out why I'm not fine. I need to focus on me. 

When you're feeling like you're not okay, the last thing you want to do is to leave the house. 
It's easy to think you're alone in situations like these and it's easy to not want to talk about why you are feeling this way. We all have moments where we feel like we're alone, we aren't appreciated, nobody understands, I feel like I'm not going anywhere in life etc ... we've all been there and we are all human, we do all feel like this from time to time. I for one, have had moments where I've felt alone, felt like no one could understand how it feels to be so lonely. It's really hard to get yourself out of that mindset. Finding the positives isn't always easy and you just want to sit behind a closed door and cry our eyes out. It's okay, we've all been there and done this. I'll raise my hand and say, this is me. I've done this. 

This is not a weakness. It just makes you human. 

Sometimes we forget that it's okay to not always be strong. Sometimes we just have moments where we feel like we just aren't that strong. Sometimes we need to lay in bed, have a cry, take time to remember that we are strong and we are human.Whatever you need to help you deal and cope with not being okay. We can't always be a strong person, ready to take on the world. Even though you don't feel like talking, having that someone you can talk to about anything really helps. Having conversations with my best friends over a glass of wine really helps me. Talking to my fiance when I feel down, helps too. I felt like all the struggles I've been carrying, all that stuff that made me not okay, felt easier to deal with when I spoken about it. Having those/that person who you can unload too really helps. If you don't have people to talk too, there are many charities such as the Samaritans that can help. Tweet to me/contact me via my blog, if you're feeling alone, I'd always be happy to help. 

You don't always have to be a superhero. Even they have bad days. 

Bad days don't last forever. Days like these only make you stronger. 

It's okay to not be okay, you just do you.

  4. I totally agree that it's okay to not be okay. It's okay to have down days but it's how you pick yourself up that makes the huge difference. Taking time out for yourself is nothing to feel guilty about and actually helps you out in the long run :)

  6. When I feel like that, which is quite often, I just do whatever I want. Eat snacks & binge watch something on Netflix, full on pampering. Just basically things that I know will make me feel better. A lot of the time I will step into Diablo 3 and just play for hours.

    It is totally okay, to not be okay and to be selfish during that time. At the end of the day, like every time before, it will pass. I always remind myself of that. It's just a moment, not forever, even if it feels like it is. :)
